ProvogueRecords asked:

Joe Bonamassa played Bridge To Better Days live on Dutch National Television Station Talpa. The broadcasted talkshow TV show Barend & Van Dorp invited Bonamassa to play a track of his album You & Me released by Provogue Records in Europe. You & Me was rewarded by Classic Rock UK as THE BLUES ALBUM OF 2006!!

Are you saying Joe’s music has no soul? You got to be fcking kidding me. You obviously are judging without knowing the guy or hearing his albums, or been to a show. If you can’t say anything that makes sense, please just don’t.

What I understand is that I have been playing over 30 years as a session musician.I listen to and have studied many forms of music during my career.Basic blues is just that…basic. This kid can play with technique and feeling.Your emotional attachment to these “other” players you like is masking what is true.Joe is far superior in every way as a guitar player and it is clearly evident in his technique, phrasing, picking ability and note selection. You like one note every other day?…fine. Not me.

  3. Now there posts a guy who doesn’t understand what the blues is about…

Hey Lesia.Get your head out of your ass.Blues playing as whole is the most basic, simplistic and boring style there is.Pentatonic scales done to death and it’s been done to death add nauseum.Joe brings something new and exciting to blues playing because he has a technical approach and a virtuosity not seen in the standard generic blues player.Your “classic” blues player?Put Clapton, BB King or Waters up there next to this kid. He’ll embarrass the shit out of all of them.

I absolutely agree with Lesia, he’s a very gifted player, I can listen to it but it’s definitely not the real thing, a nice blues sounding background while driving but that’s it, this stuff has no soul, it’s empty…

I wonder why B.B. King swears by Joe then. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm… I’d say he’s not an insult if was brought up by the King himself. Just my opinion.

I love that les paul I want one.

  11. He’s not playing the blues, just something that sounds like it. He’s a wonderfully gifted copycat. And, in that sense, I do enjoy it for what it is - I have all his albums. But it ain’t the real thing.

Lesia34….I suppose you want him to play out of tune and time….then he’d be “authentic”?

Joe’s really a rock guitarist who delves into the blues realm. His stongest influences are obviously Cream-era Clapton, Gibbons, Page etc…not Muddy Waters and Son House. Just enjoy him for what he is instead of worrying about being “true to the masters”.

That’s one badass sound he’s getting from the 900 mixed with the silver jubilee.

A fantastically well executed facsimile of the blues. Dazzling, but ultimately empty.

Well seeing as he opened for B.B King aged 12 I can really see how he fails so badly. i’m sure you could give him a run for his money considering there are “zillions”

I hope you take this the wrong way: you’re an idiot. Bonamassa is a ripoff artist, and you’re so dense you can’t figure it out. There are a zillion like him, and when there are that many out there, none of them are special or stand out at all. Now that someone has spelled it out for you, go listen to some real innovative guitarists.

  24. now don’t take this the wrong way dude, but your full of SHIT
this guy obviously has a talent and he has nice/sound rhythm, do you even play guitar?
I’d like to see you “make it” with something
