Places To Submit Your Site When Link Building

Date Added: January 01, 2008 05:09:42 AM

If you want to get people to your site effectively, search engines are the way to do it.  The biggest problem that webmasters encounter is that no matter the niche, keyword ranking is competitive.  Add to that the fact that surfers don’t generally look more than one or two pages deep on the search results.  What you should know is that the internet makes it possible for smaller companies to compete well against larger companies with more assets.

If you like competition that is what is fun about competing against rivals for keyword position.  To get the chance to beat down large companies for competitive keyword ranking is challenging.  You won’t win all the time, but you can win some of the times with a consistent link building campaign.

Link building can be one of the most effective ways to rank highly for keyword searches when used properly.  The key elements for search engine algorithms are quality and quantity of links.  Without good linking your site will not rank highly for competitive keywords that are effective for bringing visitors.

Where can I get links?

Web Directories

If your goal is a quality link to get you maximum search engine benefits you should submit to quality web directories.  A quality directory will charge a fee to review your website prior to listing it on its pages.  There are also free directories and they are less effective for the search engine benefits you’re hoping to achieve.  If you are thinking in terms of free directories think quantity.  You may need to submit your site to hundreds or thousands of free directories to achieve the benefits equal to one quality directory.

Article Directories

Try writing articles on topics related to the content of your website and submit them to article directories.  Article directories allow for a resource box where you can link back to your website.  This can bring inbound links to your site from content related to your website.  Make sure that you not only link back to your home page but to pages within your website that are the most relevant to the topic of the article.  Deep links will help with indexing your site completely.

Web Blogs

You should seek out blogs that relate to the topic of your website.  If your site deals with topics on auto repair search the term auto repair blog and visit those sites.  When you find a post that you can leave comments that add to the post do so.  Most blogs allow for a link back to the commentators website.  Keep your comments on topic and do not spam the blogs of others.

Forum Postings

Find forums online that relate to the topic of your website in the same manner you found blogs.  Find discussions in the forum that you can add to and leave your comments.  Forums allow for signature links and these can provide a back link for your site and generate some traffic in addition.

Write Press Releases

Write a quality press release in the same manner you wrote an article.  Do not use excessive hype or sales speak.  Submit the press release to distribution services which you can find with a quick Google search.

Submit Content To Social Bookmarking

Develop quality content on your site in the form of posts or articles and submit them to social bookmarking sites.  These sites allow surfers to organize their bookmarks on the web in one place.  The more people that book mark your site in these services the more links you will get back to your site.

On the internet it is all about getting traffic to your website.  Inbound links facilitate that traffic in many different ways that are both direct and indirect.  By consistently and proactively building links with an effective campaign you can achieve the traffic results you are looking for.

An Overview of Alexa
Alexa has been around for quite a while and really got noticed in 1998 when Netscape first included the toolbar in the Netscape 4 versions default installation. That led to being included in Internet Explorer 4 only a year later. Most users of those browsers at the time just assumed that the toolbar was a part of the browser. The user base at the time was around three million which was a big number in 1999 and probably their largest base.
